The built in potentiometer (pot) allows adjustment of the output voltage to the exact desired level. The heart of this device is the XL6009 current mode, DC-DC converter IC. The XL6009 is a compact IC intended for small, relatively low power applications. The XL6009 includes a built in N-channel power MOSFET and fixed frequency oscillator. Its current-mode architecture produces stable operation over a wide range of supply and output voltages. The XL6009 regulator is a special design which works well for portable electronic equipment applications.
